I found the ending of the Jurassic Park book somewhat anticlimactic. It was good, but not quite as good as I thought it'd be. Grant just injected a few raptors and eggs with some poison and they were rescued. I was thinking, "Uh, that's it?" Granted, they did go and find the huge raptor nest and the napalm bombing was cool, but still. I found the fight scene between the Tyrannosaurus and the raptors at the end of the movie better. That was one thing I think the movie had done a better job with than the book, the ending. It was much more climactic and action packed.

But what do you guys think? Which ending was better?

MemberCompsognathusNov-15-2013 12:44 PMI think the movie's ending was much better.
And think that it had to be different initially. In a first script, Hammond had to shot one raptor, and the other had to be killed by the T-rex skeleton. Glad Spielberg changed that, the T-rex vs. Raptors is much better.
Also, I was disappointed by the novel's ending as well, I found it a bit unoriginal.

MemberCompsognathusNov-15-2013 12:48 PMAgreed, the movie ending was better overall. Plus(the book wouldn't really have been able to do this I guess), the T-rex roar at the end was awesome and by far one of the greatest moments in Jurassic Park history.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexNov-15-2013 3:00 PMBased off of that information, I'm going to go with the movie ending.
I have two more stories in the works right now, and one is basically the rise and fall of Jurassic Park, along with the 2015 Park, so I have some ideas for the years between the first and fourth movies.

MemberCompsognathusNov-17-2013 8:30 AMIn the book, it seemed like it was the end (when all were in the hotel) and then grant was like "we gotta get to the raptor nest" even though everyone was safe and sound and AWAY from the ferocious dinosaurs. I was a little confused at first on why he would do that If they were just gonna bomb the island
The film ending was GREAT, PERFECT, AND PRECISE. (although watching an old man shoot a raptor would be kinda awesome and funny)

MemberCompsognathusFeb-21-2014 8:16 PMi looooooove the book. but i do prefer the movie ending. i wouldn't change the ending, but i wish the part about lex/tim/alan on the raft was included somewhat. at least that part had somewhat of a second life with the ride in universal

MemberAllosaurusMay-29-2017 2:16 PMAs much as I love both versions of the story...the movie has the better ending for sure. Rexy's roar at the end is my favourite movie moment of all time.
