Something Real

Hello there. My interests in Jurassic World are centered specifically strongly upon the new antagonist dinosaur that is has been promised to frighten us. Now, I fancy myself a creative thinker, and most of the time when I hear that something's going to frighten me, I attempt to imagine what would disquiet me - or at least make me nervous. Thus, I've come up with a bit of a fanciful hypothesis: what if the as-of-yet-unrevealed dinosaur is capable of mimicking voices - perhaps in the same manner as some birds (i.e parrots)? Perhaps Troodon or the Carnotaurus (if it turns out to be one of these specimens) possesses a tongue that enables it to mimick sounds as a lure. I certainly believe that hearing a familiar voice calling to me in the distance down a dark hall or within a bathroom or office only to find out that it's not exactly who or what I was expecting would be enough to extensively ruin my calm. What are your thoughts on this conjecture?

Well, it has been discussed that Troodon and Carno are the most likely candidates, and in talks with Horner, Carno is unlikely.

You have interesting ideas here.

Interesting, but this is Jurassic Park, as a franchise, we are talking about here. I am pretty sure the dino supervisor for the film wouldn't agree to that. Also, Michale Crichton, who wrote the book version of the first 2 films, is deceased, and I am pretty sure he doesn't want the precious world he created and we admire turn into a ridiculous sci-fi that is fra-fetched.

Just my opinion.

Yah, Chris told me he will set up a new server soon.

Seriously, though, in my first comment, I don't think this type of thing would be for Jurassic Park. I think it would kind of ruin it.

I think its a pretty cool idea. Common in modern intelligent birds, and so why not? Itd be creepy and cool. As long as it didnt show them really, talking, but doing barking movements like a parrot, Id be on board.

PRIMAL KING I agree. If they mimicked, I'd certainly be mortified if they actually mouthed the words. Your suggestion is very organic. Excellent thought.

It does seem a bit far-fetched, but it wouldn't be the first time JP makes something more intelligent than it actually was and it would certainly be creepy as all hell.

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

Not sure how familiar you guys are with the Hunger Games trilogy(personally, I loved the books/movies), but they had genetically engineered birds that were able to copy and mimick whole sentences. In certain situations, it was downright terrifying. It effected a persons mentallity more so than their phsical self. Either way, having a dinosaur(a smler one like Troodon or raptor would be better to me) would be extremely scary, especially at night.

something like that would be terrifying., but it seems too far fetched to me. Maybe with the this movie (like the third) they'll pull material from the books that wasn't used in the first two movies- now with that being said, I don't recall anything remotely close to something like that in Jurassic Park or in the Lost world. But it's been years since I read them so I could be wrong. Are there any other Crichton works that may have mentioned something that terrifying?

Agreed. I loved the Hunger Games, and the Mockingjays in them were well written. And thank you!

This actually is not far fetched, lets say this animal lived at the very end of the Cretaceous and was quite an advanced species. It could of used its mimicking capabilities to copy the calls of its prey as a lure, and seeing as ingen specimens are not exactly the same as their prehistoric counterparts this dinosaurs vocal capacity could have been increased allowing it to mimick human screams and cries.

this was just a brilliant idea btw and it would make for a seriously scary and creepy antagonist, well done

How far can we push nature before it pushes back?
