The fossils were being removed and cleaned, but in the process, more fossils were found. Fragments of the ribs and a thick dome fragment were found. A thick dome looking like it belonged to a pachycephalosaur. "It certainly seems like it, but pachycephalosaurs are only known to live in North America and Asia,", said my sister, "but it could be that one branch grew to massive proportions when it crossed into and adapted to Cretaceous South America, adapting to fight large theropods rather than flee.". The idea of a 55 foot Pachycephalosaurus seems crazy, and it sort of is. My sister's team agrees that it probably wasn't 55 feet. If proportioned like a pachycephalosaur, it would have been only about 38-43 feet. Still gigantic compared to the current record holder of largest pachycephalosaur, Pachycephalosaurus, at a mere 15 feet. The news came to me just a few minutes ago, but the discovery was apparently made yesterday. 40 foot pachycephalosaur vs 45 foot carcharodontosaur? Yes please.
